7 Ways to Soothe your Shyness

Shy people instinctively know that they are missing out. Shyness equals lost opportunities, less pleasure and fewer social connections. Shyness can be crippling but there are tried and tested ways to make it a thing of the past.

When I was fifteen I was shy. I recall an attractive girl attempting to engage me in conversation. My shyness made me focus on me instead of her. I heard my own voice but not hers and I thought about what I was trying to say instead of what she was trying to say.

Caution: A Weight Loss Hypnosis CD Is Not A Magical Solution!

March 26, 2009 By: hypnotic Category: Hypnosis, Hypnosis for Results, Self hypnosis, Weight Loss

A weight loss hypnosis CD is not a magical solution to the problems of any weight loss programme.

They are no different to much of what is advertised today in the amount of hype that surrounds the benefit of using them. Before you put down your hard earned money on purchasing any weight loss hypnosis CDs be careful that you don’t fall for the hype.

The Truth is Out There – You Just Need to Find It

It is important to research weight loss hypnosis CDs; both for the claims made of them and the testimonials backing up those claims. Once you have found a seemingly suitable CD you should play it through in a state of alertness; you need to assess its suitability for your needs so as to avoid a situation where you could be put in a trance. Another important point to bear in mind is the need for a certain amount of willpower; it is no good buying a weight loss hypnosis CD, playing and listening to it and then going out to your favourite fast food restaurant for a super-sized meal. Without determination on your part any weight loss hypnosis CD is unlikely to have much impact.

It is necessary that you commit to making an effort to control your urge to eat and not just think that the weight loss hypnosis CD will provide a magic solution that will effortlessly help to lose weight without any effort from you. So you may well ask, does weight loss hypnosis work? Let me tell you, there is little doubt that hypnosis can be very effective in helping you to lose weight when used in conjunction with your own will to lose those unwanted pounds.

Hypnosis Therapy: The Pros And Cons

What is Hypnosis Therapy?

Hypnosis therapy, or hypnotherapy, is a technique used to modify an individual person’s state of consciousness: for instance, in order for them to be able to resolve a particular problem or alter a specific behavior.

Many people tend to think that the hypnotic state is an altered state of consciousness and it can often resemble one, but experts are doubtful that it truly is one. An altered state of consciousness, though difficult to define in terms a lay person could understand, differs significantly from normal consciousness, however, it is not the brain state itself that constitutes the person’s altered state of consciousness.

A person who has been hypnotized can closely resemble someone suffering from amnesia who, having been primed by being shown certain words, later have no conscious recollection of having been shown the words though they may display an implicit memory of the words.

Applying Conversational Hypnosis When Talking With Someone

What are the right kinds of words to perform covert hypnosis?

One way to really change the way someone feels about something is to use words that make the person see the thing in a different way. I call this reframing.

The classic example of reframing is the glass is not half empty, its half full. In this reframe you are trying to get the person to see the positive side of things, and not focus on the negative side.

You can use reframing for more complex things by changing some very simple words in a sentence. For example, think about the difference between these three sentences:

Language is a powerful thing. Although you may not know it, the words you use show others how you see the world.

In fact, some experts believe that we not only use language to talk about how we see our world, but also that language actually helps us make the world we live in.

How does this work?

Your subconscious mind actually tries to look at reality in a way consistent with the words you speak.

What is Hypnosis: Magic, Or Some Kind Of Art?

March 17, 2009 By: hypnotic Category: Hypnosis, Self hypnosis

Whether or not magic actually exists is a moot point, but it is certainly a potent force with the capacity to influence people’s minds. Sometimes seen as an offshoot of magic, hypnosis has fascinated people from all parts of the world and throughout much of history.

So, is hypnosis magic? There’s no doubt that when hypnosis was first practised, albeit without it being properly understood, many people considered it to be a magical experience and some even considered it to be demonic practice. Thankfully we are no longer that naive and recent research has led to some very interesting revelations about hypnosis, but magic it isn’t.

Inducing A Trance Like State

Psychologists have long used and explored hypnosis, spending years trying to explain how it works and how it has benefited so many people by improving their quality of life.
